How to Access the Design Canvas in SugarCRM Advanced Workflows
If you are just starting to learn about Advanced Workflows (also known as Process Author) you may not be sure where to begin. To help you get started, below we outline how to access the Visual Design Canvas, which is where you will create your first workflow in Process Author.
In the new workflow tool, Process Definitions is the term used for a workflow. When designing a new workflow or editing an existing workflow, you will be working from the Process Definitions module.
First, from your home page, click on the small arrow to the right of the modules buttons in the navigation bar. This will open the drop-down menu. From the menu, click on “Process Definitions”. This will take you to the Process Definition list view.
You are now viewing a list of all Process Definition records in the system. To create a new Process Definition, click on the small arrow to the right of the Process Definitions button in the top navigation bar. This will open the drop down menu. Now, click “Create Process Definition”.
You are now starting your first workflow. In this window, you will name your workflow and choose the module you want the workflow to trigger from (for example, if you want a process to occur when a new lead is created, you would run this workflow off of the Leads Module). It’s also recommended that you disable the workflow to prevent it from triggering while you are still designing it. When you’re done with the initial setup, click “Save & Design” (the blue button).
You are now viewing the design canvas. A green notification at the top should be there to confirm you created a new Process Definition.
We know learning a new tool can be challenging, so we’ve created several walkthrough guides which you can purchase to help guide you through your first workflow creation. For information on purchasing our walkthroughs, reach out to us here.
