Gmail for iOS Updated: Visual Redesign, iPad Improvements

by Koosha Araghi on November 27, 2013

Google’s latest update to its Gmail app for iOS introduces a redesigned visual experience, matching the aesthetics of the most recent iteration of the iOS operating system. While the previous version of the Gmail app offered a clean, mostly flat design, the latest version offers further tweaks to provide seamless transitioning between different iOS7 apps.

The main visual tweaks include a refined navigation bar on the left that stretches to the top of the screen and offers quick access to multiple accounts and labels. Given the larger screen real estate on the iPad, the navigation has been trimmed in width and allows you to click and maneuver through multiple accounts with a single tap. New messages in various categories and labels also include color coded message indicators.

A few other notable changes include quickly swiping left or right to go through messages, noticeably snappier load time, and support for iOS 7’s new background refresh system.

The latest Version of the Gmail iOS app is available on the App Store now.
