Google Vault Now Backs Up Drive Data

by Koosha Araghi on June 25, 2014

Google Vault, the powerful archiving and retention tool that is part of the Google Apps suite, now includes a major new addition. Rolling out today, Google Vault will now be backing up and including Google Drive data in its search results. Vault for drive will be available for no additional cost for organizations currently on Vault and will remain at $10/month per user. The new Drive features will automatically include all existing data (documents, uploaded files, etc) as soon as today.

With the new Vault for Drive, organizations will be able to search for users' Drive data (including Google docs, sheets, slides, as well as any other stored data). Admins will be able to preview any stored data, even documents that may have been deleted. Additionally, files can be downloaded directly within Vault and restored through the Drive app if necessary. A note for current Postini customers, when the vault transition is completed, you will also be able to utilize Vault for Drive at no additional cost.
