Google Vault Update: Targeted Legal Holds

by Koosha Araghi on January 21, 2014

Google's archiving and E-discovery tool, Google Vault, is now even more powerful with the addition of targeted legal holds. Vault helps organizations by creating a secure backup that preserves emails and chats, preventing accidental deletion of messages, and adhering to compliance and regulatory requirements.

The latest update to vault provides users and admins better control over emails that need to be retained. Targeted legal holds allow organizations to set holds based on specific criteria such as labels, subject/body content, sent dates, and virtually any other search criteria. Take a look at the link below for a complete list of search operators that can be used when creating a hold.

Holds can also now be created for multiple users at a time or domain wide if required. Previously, legal holds were limited to a single users mailbox and needed to be turned on separately for each account in question. It is important to note that holds created domain wide will only apply to users that have also purchased Vault licensing.
