New Dedicated Home Screens For Docs, Sheets, and Slides

by Koosha Araghi on July 29, 2014

At last months Google I/O conference, Google announced its new design guidelines and style initiative, known simply as Material Design. The new design principles look to unify both desktop and mobile with a minimalistic, polished style that will be common in all Google applications. The latest rollout of Material Design comes to the Google Drive suite. Google has created new, dedicated home pages for Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Slides. While all docs will still be both visible and accessible within Drive, the new dedicated pages bring an interesting new way to quickly sort through your cloud based documents or create new ones.

Earlier this year, Google released dedicated standalone versions of Google Docs and Sheets on mobile. The idea behind the dedicated pages is to bring a similarity, both in design and in functionality, as seen in mobile.
