Shortcut Search Bar in SugarCRM

by Katie Liesmann on April 7, 2016

If you are using Sugar 7.6 or later, then you have access to a shortcut search bar that few people know about. Known as “The Sweet Spot”, it’s an undocumented feature which allows you to quickly search all modules within your Sugar instance and acts as a shortcut to creating or viewing records. To access the search bar on a Mac, press command, shift and the space bar at the same time. On a Windows machine, press control, shift and the space bar at the same time.

Once the search bar is open, start typing to begin your search.

The search bar results are divided into two sections. In the example below, I typed “Account” into the search bar. The first part of the results are actions I can take. In this example, I can either go to the Accounts module, create an Account, build a list using the D&B integration, view related reports, or begin an Account import. The second part of the results contains records relevant to my search terms, or some cases and contacts that contain the word “Account”.

You can change the color of the search bar by opening Sweet Spot, clicking on the top right gear icon, and going to themes. Below are the light and dark options.

If you are on Sugar 7.6 or later, try out this feature and let us know what you think here.
