  1. Q: Can you make product referrals to external partners?
    A: Absolutely! There are two referral types - internal and external. An internal referral would be to a Sugar user, and the external referral would be anyone that is not within your Sugar system. That could be any type of business partner; as long as they have an email address, you can send that notification email to that external partner.

  2. Q: How can you track the completion of referrals?
    A: Within the referral, there is a Status field in the upper left corner. By default, it is set to New, but there are several options available to choose from. We’ve got fully integrated mechanisms within uReferrals, to take it from referral - which you might think of as a form of a lead - on through converting it to an opportunity.
     
  3. Q: Can you show how a referral might be managed in Sugar without uReferrals?
    A: Sugar a very flexible CRM system, so you can create anything that you want to. We develop new integrations and modules because we see that there is a need for them as we are working with our customers. The reason why we created uReferrals is that we saw a need for this in the market.

    There a lot of ways to do it within Sugar. We didn’t think they were as efficient as using uReferrals, but you could create a custom module that wouldn’t be quite as elegant as the one that we’ve put together - without the referral button to create it within a single mouse click and all the choices.

    Sugar certainly has those relational capabilities to be able to link a referral to an account or to a customer, but it wouldn’t be as elegant.
     
  4. Q: Can you configure a catalog of referrable products and services?
    A: Yes, that is the Referrals Type module. After creating a new account, within the Referrals Type module, there are built-in fields you can configure based on who is the referral recipient or what is the name of the referral. You can also link that referral to a campaign or embed an HTML link within the notification that allows the user to click on that link and go directly to either the account or the contact record.
