Sugar User Group: Modifying Mobile and Desktop Layouts

by Lydia Teffera on June 4, 2014

In May, Amanda Anderson and Aaron Wine hosted a user group on modifying mobile and desktop layouts in SugarCRM. The session covered how to modify layouts in Studio, best practices for easier navigation and updates on layouts in Sugar 7. Aaron and Amanda wrapped up the session with a Q & A discussion. Below are the video recording, and some of the questions and answers from the event.

Sugar User Group Q&A

Q: What version are you demonstrating this on?
A: I am demoing this on Sugar’s latest version, 7.2 using the Enterprise edition.

Q: How do you get rid of excess filler fields and rows?
A: If you have the filler field in there just leave it in there because it's going to show up blank on the screen. But if you have a row with two fillers, all you need to do is drag the whole row and drop it into the recycling bin.

Q: Can you change the order of the subpanels?
A: No unfortunately in 7.0 - 7.2 you can not. But in version 6 you can drag and move them without any issues. However, Sugar is saying that in 7.5 this feature should be available again.

Q: Which mobile app should I download for 7.2?
A: There are several apps out there, but the one for 7 is going to be the one with the white background and the black, red, and gray cube called SugarCRM. If you're on 6.5 you're going to want Sugar Mobile and that's going to be the one with the gray background with a red, white, and blue cube. Click here for more info about the latest app for Sugar.

Q: Do administrators get blocked in the role permissions?
A: No, administrators have omnipotent rights and can see everything.
