SugarCon 2017: Five Things You Missed
Below are five things you missed if you didn't make it to SugarCon 2017 in San Francisco, CA.
1. Focus on Relationship Intelligence in Addition to Relationship Management
SugarCRM has been focusing on relationship management since it was founded in 2004. At SugarCon 2017, they made a commitment to make their focus two-fold--on both relationship management and relationship intelligence.
The first evidence of this new strategy is in their recently released product, Hint. They announced at SugarCon that Hint is the first of several products in a relationship intelligence product line. Here are some of the announcements they made around Hint:
Hint’s geographical support has now expanded to the UK, Canada, and the Netherlands.
Hint will now pull in company news, SIC codes, and NAICS codes.
Soon, SugarCRM’s Relationship Intelligence line will include a personal digital assistant. This assistant will use your smartphone’s calendar to provide logistical and strategic information about each scheduled meeting you have. For example, you could use the app to display a meeting’s subject matter, directions to the location, and travel time necessary. It can also provide a summary of contacts who will participate in the meeting--and information from their online social profiles.
2. Extension of the Mobile SDK Kit
The Mobile SDK was launched in 2016--and at SugarCon 2017 it was announced that there will be an extension of its capabilities. The mobile SDK allows organizations using Sugar to create a customized version of Sugar Mobile without building an app from scratch. The updated SDK will add functionality to customize integrations with mobile management tools, custom fields, views and buttons, use of native device capabilities (camera, GPS) and custom styling.
3. Previews of Custom Interfaces
During the roadmap presentation at SugarCon 2017, SugarCRM showed off the flexibility of Sugar by demoing some custom SugarCRM views that are available for purchase. Here are some photos we captured during the SugarCon sessions.

4. Annual App Throwdown
The finalists for the 2017 App Throwdown, which were announced during the opening ceremony, were:
After all five finalists, threw-down on stage--the winner who took home bragging rights for the best superpower was Intelestream with their gamification system for SugarCRM, called Splash. Splash promises to increase revenue by increasing employee engagement in your Sugar instance.
5. Super Hero Party
This year’s theme for SugarCon was celebrating the heroes of CRM--from champion users to customer success stories, to industry leaders. This, of course, meant a superhero themed party. Attendees were encouraged to wear costumes and were entertained with live music, skeeball machines, and a caricaturist who would draw you as a superhero. You can see all the pictures from the superhero party here.
Next year’s SugarCon (2018) will be in Las, Vegas on October 10-11, 2018. Did you go to SugarCon? What was something else that is worth mentioning? Let us know in the comments below!
