Customizing the Sugar Global Search Feature

Audiences: End Users

Sugar users can quickly add a valuable feature that provides the latest information for any of their accounts. Users can personalize their Global Search selections by choosing which modules will be reviewed to return search results.

For example, below the user may choose to restrict Global Searches to only the Contacts and Accounts modules.

This gives some measure of personalization for Global Searches, but clients that have large numbers of Contacts and Accounts the results can still be overwhelming.

UpCurve Cloud offers a more detailed way to select Global Search results.

In addition to selecting the Modules to be included in the Global Search, users can also select the specific fields to use in the Global Search process.

After activating Configure Global Search users can

  1. Select the field’s module
  2. Select the specific fields that are included in Global Search
  3. Save the Choices

Now, Global Searches will include “Only” the name and email address fields from the Account module.

This process can be repeated for all modules to help streamline the Global Search results.

NOTE: Administrators can set default fields in each module for all users to set initial fields. Each user can subsequently set their choices to personalize the Global Search feature.
